Sebastian Stan Wins Golden Globe for ‘A Different Man’
This year’s Golden Globes saw Sebastian Stan winning ‘Best Actor’ for his role as Edward in ‘A Different Man’, he stars in the film alongside Disability advocate and actor, Adam Pearson. Stan’s character, Edward, is an aspiring actor with neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition that causes tumours to grow on the skin and bone.
In his acceptance speech he said “Our ignorance and discomfort around disability and disfigurement has to end now. We have to normalise it and continue to expose ourselves to it. Encourage acceptance. One way we can do that is by continuing to champion stories that are inclusive.”
Congratulations to Sebastian Stan and everyone involved in the film, we’re hoping to see more authentic disability representation in 2025!
TikTok Shares Tips for Valentine’s Day Campaigns
Valentine’s Day is slowly getting closers, and however you feel about it, it’s undeniable that it’s a really important day for brands. Ahead of this, TikTok has already shared some insights of what works well for campaigns during those days. The guide includes things like when users make purchases, most popular hashtags to use, and even how some people focus on self love instead of romantic love. A very insightful guide, but let’s hope brands also remember to make their campaigns truly inclusive 👀
Last Valentine’s Day. we reviewed some dating apps campaigns, check it out below ⬇️
YouTube Simplifies Short Creation
If you’ve been struggling with YT Shorts, this new feature could be really helpful.
The video platform is looking to add a new option that will automatically clip the most engaging elements of your longer-form videos into shorter clips. This would hopefully simplify the editing process and give an insight into what clips would work best on the platform. Will you try it?
The Traitors S3 Cast
Yes, everyone is talking about The Traitors, but we’re here to talk about the diversity of its cast!
The new season of The Traitors is in full swing and the cast has some great disability representation! Including Livi, who’s Visually Impaired, Dan, who’s Autistic, and Jake, who has Cerebral Palsy. We’re here for even more disability representation in TV in 2025.
Pinterest Quest to Restore Optimism and Inclusivity
Social media always receives some negative reviews, however, Pinterest is positioning itself as a positive and inspiring alternative to other social media platforms. It prioritises “time spent well” over maximising screen time, using AI to promote inclusivity and personalised experiences. This approach can appeal to users seeking optimism, as well as advertisers who benefit from consumers in a positive mood.
We are definitely big fans of Pinterest so this is very exciting. We also love the new feature they incorporated last year that allows users to filter results based on body type, skin colour or hair type.
Trend Spotlight: “Are you kidding?”
We all have those moments where we’re in utter disbelief and feel frustrated (in a humorous way), but we have to remind ourselves that we have to calm down 😬
Campaign Spotlight: Kendall Jenner x Adanola
The ultimate ‘clean girl’ is now the new face of the UK activewear brand, and we’re here for it!
The collection and campaign embeds versatility, comfort and confidence, to support the wearer through any sporting activity. Hyrum Cook, founder of Adanola, said ‘Kendall represents the modern Adanola woman – effortlessly stylish, adaptable, and always on the go’.
This is a big moment for the brand, and a perfect fit! Similarly, we love Amelia Dimoldenberg’s collaboration with Bumble.
