Google Maps has launched some exciting new navigation features, including wheelchair-accessible walking routes, enhanced Live View for Blind and Visually Impaired (VI) people, and an attribute label for disabled-owned businesses. This is another great step from Google in their commitment with accessibility!

As Christopher Patnoe, Head of Accessibility and Disability Inclusion at Google EMEA, said on the latest Purple Goat Podcast episode, Google’s mission statement is “to make the world’s information universally accessible and useful”, and that includes thinking about the biggest minority in the world!

Instagram New Reminder Ads

Instagram’s new reminders were originally introduced in the app back in March, and they have now been extended to Stories, offering additional campaign flexibility. When organising an event that you’re sharing on the app, you can easily add these reminders in Ads Manager. These will then send users three alerts about the events: 1 day before, 15 minutes prior, and when the event starts.

It’s a fun way to boost engagement for your initiatives!

TikTok’s Live Concert Event

On December 10th, TikTok will be hosting “In The Mix”, a live music event in Arizona (US), featuring international artists like, Cardi B, Niall Horan, Anitta and Charlie Puth. This unique event will also bring the app’s ‘For You’ feed to live with activities inspired by community trends.

As TikTok keeps growing its influence in the music industry, this live event is a smart move from the company. Moreover, “In The Mix”, which will take place at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona, will be globally streamed via TikTok LIVE.

People across the UK will receive support to overcome work barriers, thanks to one-hour discussions with health practitioners. The resulting ‘work ability plans’ are shared with work coaches, creating a smoother path to employment.

Campaign Spotlight: Kia, Uber & McDonald’s

Some of Australia’s major brands, including Kia, Uber, OralB, Pantene and McDonald’s, came together for an ‘Unignorable Adbreak’ during primetime TV. The goal was to address the underrepresentation of disabled individuals in Australian advertising. Even though Australians with disabilities make up almost 20% of the population, only 1% of ads feature them.

If you want to follow their example and make sure you’re representing the biggest minority in the world, make sure to contact us.
