Scope Approaches the Public with the Reality of Costs for the Disabled Community

Scope has recently create some street interview series with Moeed where they’ve approached the public to try and raise awareness of the cost of the Disabled community. Did you know that on average, Disabled people would need an extra £975 every month to have an equal standard of living to non-Disabled people?

The New Housing Minister Knows BSL

After 14 years, the UK has a Labour Housing Secretary once again, Angela Rayner, and during her campaign she shared a video in British Sign Language. Following this, the British Deaf Association expressed pride in having her as Deputy Prime Minister, but they also emphasised that the system fails to provide free BSL classes to parents of Deaf children, urging her to take action.

YouTube Adds New Creative Options for Shorts

YouTube is enhancing Shorts with auto layout for easier video conversion, text-to-speech narration, customisable captions, remixing options, and Minecraft-themed effects. These features aim to boost creativity and community building, with Shorts driving over 70 billion daily views and significan earnings for creators.

BeReal is Now Open for Ads

In June, Voodooo acquired BeReal for $535 million. The new owner stated that their expertise is in scaling up apps by working on the business model and new features, one of which consisted in the implementation of ads within the app. So if you’re on BeReal you might have started to see ads from brands, even if you don’t follow them.

Coldplay Share Music Video After Glastonbury Groundbreaking Performance

Coldplay’s Glastonbury performance made waves in the news and was packed with incidental disability representation, with Michael J Fox, Victoria Canal, and Chris performing the first verse of “Something Just Like This” in sign language. The band then released a new music video featuring Natasha Ofili performing her own ASL interpretation of the song.

The short film challenges the public to rethink their preconceptions of Paralympic greatness and it showcases the reactions of people watching Paralympic sports, highlighting how their well-intentioned views often fail to recognise Paralympians as the world-class athletes they truly are.
